I started off the week with some early celebration at @tomorrowbookstore where I grabbed A Gentleman’s Gentleman, Reign and Ruin (which is an indie fantasy that’s been on my TBR forever), and The Gods Time Forgot. And then yesterday, my curiosity got the best of me and I picked up The Never List which is a why-choose romance that a friend has been raving about.

On another note, I went into yesterday with a lot of anxiety. Trying to balance sustainability, responsibility, and growth as a small business owner is one of the hardest things to do. We’ve made some big bets over the last few months and I definitely felt the pressure of trying to ensure those things don’t come back to bite us or put us in a position that jeopardizes our growing team’s livelihood. And the news of the other two sales going on kind of got to me.

But, our community showed up for us in a way that almost made me cry multiple times. We had our best indie bookstore day and best sales day EVER. Yesterday felt like a warm hug and I hope all of my other indie friends felt the same energy.

I love you all and I love indie bookstores.

During this phase, we're reviewing manuscripts and deciding which book we want to publish. At the end of this phase, we offer an author a book deal.

Consideration

As the manuscript goes through several phases of editorial work, the cover and interior design takes place, while format decisions about paper stocks and printing treatments are made.

Editorial & Design

While the books are on press, the pre-order links go live and the marketing campaign ramps up with waves of review copy mailings to media and influencers.
